Premium Quiz: Which clubs are best at putting opponents under pressure?
In today’s quiz, we’ll focus on an important part of how many clubs play: pressing. CIES (The International Centre for Sports Studies) recently published a ranking based on how far from their own goal teams press the opponent’s build-up, how quickly they can win the ball back, how often they are forced to defend, and also how many fouls they commit in the final third. From all these stats, an index was created, topped with a perfect 100 points by Dutch second-tier side ADO Den Haag.
This quiz includes a total of 50 clubs. The first 35 were selected from Europe’s top five leagues, having earned at least 75 points in the index. The remaining 15 are top-flight clubs that can qualify for UEFA competitions, and the index rated their play at more than 90 points.
Once you start the quiz, you’ll see the index value and the country the club comes from in the left-hand column. A hint, if needed, will reveal the first letter of the club’s commonly used name.
